About Me
My passion for photography started with my love for the equine sport. I loved photographing the brilliant horses I worked with as much as I loved the rush of preparing them to perform at optimal levels. My horse career filled my toolbelt with dedication, attention to detail, drive, discipline and a passion for greatness. Having experienced firsthand the magic that happens when both humans and animals reach peak performance and enter their flow state, I have become fascinated with capturing those moments on camera.
The Name
A ground line is the pole, flower box, brush, or visual element placed on the ground directly beneath the front of a jump. Horses naturally perceive depth differently than humans. A jump without a ground line can appear visually flat or ambiguous, making it harder for the horse to confidently determine the takeoff point.
A well-designed ground line creates visual contrast and definition, giving the horse a clearer picture of the obstacle. The ground line changes how the horse sees the jump. It influences perception, provides context and helps define the effort before it happens. Without it, the obstacle can appear less clear, less approachable, and more difficult to interpret. The ground line doesn't change the jump itself, it changes the perspective from which the jump is understood.
I firmly believe that life exists as you perceive it and that small details matter. The name Ground Line Collective is a nod to my equestrian background and the undeniable way it shaped my perspective and the way I see the world. Ground Line Collective was created to reflect the unseen details that create exceptional outcomes.
